CSSD SUPERVISOR
POSITION SUMMARY:-
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for the day to day operation of the CSSD area and its staff, in accordance with the AHD values.
STATEMENT OF VALUES:-
As an employee of the American Hospital Dubai the CSSD Supervisor is expected to promote the mission and philosophy of the hospital by acting in a caring, courteous and confidential manner towards patients, visitors, colleagues and staff, and by performing his / her duties and responsibilities according to the expected standards in order to fully meet patient care needs.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
– Hospital or Nursing experience desirable.
– Diploma / Certificate in CSSD.
– Previous 5-years minimum experience in CSSD.
– Desired supervisory experience in a multicultural environment.
– Proficiency in written and spoken English
ASSESSMENT MEASUREMENT CRITERIA:-
Actual performance should be compared with expected performance as set forth in the position description and as observed by the evaluator, feedback from others, random review, and competency assessment.
Outstanding – Exceeds required standards consistently. Excellent in all aspects. Maintains high personal and professional standards. Sets example for all to follow. Describes a highly motivated individual of rare ability.
Excellent – Clearly above standards, frequently exceeds job requirements. Performance is well above average and is very good in most aspects. May excel in some areas. This is a valued employee of superior ability and potential.
Average – Meets required standards. May exceed requirements in some areas. Employee’s contribution is valued. Has the potential to improve or advance. This is the standard rating.
Below Average – Marginally below required standards. Performance is deficient in most aspects. Limited potential for improvement.
Unacceptable – Definitely below required standards. Performance is deficient in most aspects. Limited potential for improvement.
6.3 Assessors are encouraged to include “comments” to recognize the employee’s strong points, areas for improvement, etc.
6.4 Assessment measurement will be as is observed by the Director, Quality Improvement; random review of performance; and, competency measurement.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

6.1 Demonstrates problem solving / critical thinking skills ensuring effective functioning of unit routine.
6.2 Serves in “charge” role as required.
6.3 Participates in developing and achieving unit goals.
6.4 Performs additional duties when required.
7.0 TECHNICAL/ STAFF FUNCTIONS:-
7.1 In liaison with the O.R. manager is instrumental in the development and implementation of Policies and Procedures applicable to CSSD.
7.2 Maintains a high standard of care relating to sterilization and techniques of sterilization
7.3 Demonstrates sound knowledge of SSD based on the department and reviews as necessary
7.4 Performs CSSD duties in accordance with established standard of CSSD Policy and Procedures.
7.5 Maintains accurate and thorough documentation following established standards.
7.6 Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care.
7.8 Participates in staff meetings and unit committees / projects.
8.0 EDUCAITON / QUALITY IMPROVEMENT:-
8.1 Assess educational needs and provides education to
co-workers.
Participates in ongoing educational activities and maintains mandatory educational requirements.
8.2 Maintains a safe environment.
8.3 Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues and others.
8.4 Participates in unit-based CQI activities (data collection, CQI teams, etc.). Serves on hospital-wide CQI teams as interested / available.
9.0 CUSTOMER SERVICE:
9.1 Attends and ensures that departmental staff attend Customer Service training.
9.2 Demonstrates cooperation, coordination, and respect among individuals / departments in order to provide excellent customer service (internal and external).
9.3 Promotes excellence in all interactions with customers, internal and external.
