Roles and Responsibility:-
• Review patient’s medical records, including X-rays, blood work and other lab tests.
• Conduct physical exams and order additional laboratory tests.
• Provides surveillance throughout the hospital for infection control.
• Identifies, investigates and records data concerning nosocomial infections and exposures.
• Observes and evaluates techniques and practices related to health care associated disease prevention at all levels of health care.
• Performs surveillance activities and applies an epidemiological approach to problem solving.
• Provides formal and informal education programs to health care providers.
• Provides patient education regarding disease transmission and prevention methods.
• Develops, revises and evaluates infection control policies and procedures.
• Serves as the infection control consultant for multiple departments.
• Consults with the infection control and safety committees for implementation of infection control and employee health programs.
• Helps in the development of data gathering establishment of policies and procedures, and control measures. Keeps the committees informed of surveillance findings and control activities.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures. Including objectives, quality assurance program safety, environmental and infection control standards.
