Role Purpose: To Provide support and supervision for all activities carried out in the microbiology Lab.

Accountabilities

Core Accountabilities

– The tasks of the role-holder are prescribed in written routines, processes or procedures.-

– Typically the work involves concrete tasks, where the role-holder is required to focus on one at a time.-

– Where processes are not functioning properly or opportunities are perceived for improvement, the role-holder is expected to report back to higher management before taking action.

– The output of the role-holder is constrained by the availability of tools, equipment and raw materials.-

– The technical knowledge of the role-holder is limited to the immediate area in which they are working.-

– The role-holder is responsible for the use of only the equipment and systems used to do their own role and only their own time in performing their role

Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

– Daily supervision of all activities carried out in the microbiology department.

– Receiving and processing of all microbiology specimens.

– Performing examinations of clinical specimens for microbiological investigations for isolation and identification of organisms.

– Performing antimicrobial sensitivity testing for organisms isolated.

– Releasing all the results in timely and accurate manner.

– Performing regular maintenance of all equipment in microbiology department.

– Performing internal quality controls and participating in external quality assurance programs.

– Checking and maintaining the inventory of all reagents and consumables.

– Preparing SOPs for Microbiology Department.

– Complying with DHA/DAC regulations.

– Participating in training and CME activities.-

Experience

Minimum Experience : 3 Years in a Clinical setup

Qualification: Master’s Degree

Skills: Masters in Medical Microbiology
