MEDICAL IMAGING DEPARTMENT
REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
To perform Medical Imaging examinations for patients at the American Hospital and external referred patients. As required, establishes, oversees and co-ordinates protocols and procedures for medical imaging diagnostic purposes. To supervise and train technologists engaged in the respective specialities. To be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Department’s Quality Assurance programme as agreed by the Technical Director. To assist Technical Director with administrative duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Assists the Technical Director in the daily running of the Medical Imaging Department by setting up staff work schedule and assigns equitable workload to employees in accordance with established department workflow.
– Handling the technical aspect of the department ensuring that all equipments function properly.
– Oversees and assist section supervisors in setting up, administrative departmental processes, technical protocols and workflows as created by Technical Director and Chairman.
– Supervises, trains, and monitors technologists in the day-to-day execution of imaging and associated procedures and techniques, and in the effective and safe operation of facilities, and equipment.
– Monitor monthly environmental rounds in the Medical Imaging department
– Knowledge of Imaging principles, procedures and techniques.
– Ability to manage the Department’s inventory (equipment, supplies).
– Ability to apply quality principles to assure quality results in the Department.
– Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
– Technical problem solving skills within area of specialty.
– Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
– Knowledge of specifications, standards, and tolerances for the departments operation, equipment and facilities.
POSITION QUALIFICATION:
– Graduate of an accredited School, University, or Institution from where the qualification permits registration with the ARRT or its equivalent.
– Current Registered Licensure in country of citizenship or professional practice.
– Knowledge of JCIA or accreditation standards.
– Knowledge of QI/CQI/PI philosophy.
Professional Experience:
At least five (5) years of recent Diagnostic experience, with current clinical experience of (5) years in CT/MRI/Mammography and X-rays.
– Evidence of continuing education.
– Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
– Basic understanding of personal computers; computer literacy preferred.
