Job Title: SENIOR MIDWIFE.

Reporting To: – Unit Manager: Women’s Health
Professionally Accountable to: Director of Nursing
Liaise with: Physicians, Nursing, Axillary, Allied Personnel
Qualifications: – Bachelor Degree in MIDWIFERY Nursing or relevant Diploma or Nursing Degree or Diploma with post qualification specialization in Midwifery.
License: – Valid DHA Nursing License.
Experience: – Minimum of 10 years of nursing experience with 6 years as an independent Midwife.
• Expert in all aspects of nursing theories and practices for her/his related specialty.
• Matured individual with demonstrated competency in clinical and leadership skills.
• Equipment Operated: – Can operate all medical Equipment in their specialized are and computer.
• License: – A registered nurse (RN), BCLS mandatory, ACLS, PALS, NRP as appropriate
• Customer focus.
• Collaboration and Team work.
• Communication and Personal Effectiveness.
• Adaptability and Flexibility.
• Ethical Practice.
Clinical Responsibility: –
1) Act as the professional lead for women, promoting the normal birthing process.
2) Work in partnership with other professional colleagues to care for women with complex needs.
3) To maintain a professional, Approachable disposition at all time with all members of staff, patients and their visitors.
4) Rotate thought the department in order to develop and maintain skills and all aspects of the role of the midwife, while participating in the rotation of day and night duty.
5) Provide and receive complex, sensitive information to be aware of child protection and domestic violence issues and to refer clients to relevant agency as appropriate.
Managerial Duties:-
1) To be able to manage own day to day activities and manage working time effectively.
2) Ensure the most effective and efficient use of available staff, with regards top grade and skill mix in order to provide optimum care.
3) Coordinate the maternity ward, clinic or community area in the absence of a more senior midwife.
4) Maintain good order and organisation in the ward or department.
5) Report to midwifery manager on specific subject such as Complains, Lost Property, or accidents.
6) Contribute towards the security of the maternity unit including the baby tagging System.
